Since I started Reech in 2009, we’ve hugely invested in our local community across Shropshire. It’s a massive part of our business and we love giving back to the local community. It’s where our team work, it’s where our Studio HQ is, and we’ve always felt the cradling embrace of community throughout our time so it’s important that we give back in any way we can.

For the past 2 years, we’ve been running something called Reech and Reward. It’s our Charity of the Year initiative where Shropshire charities come and pitch to us to receive £10,000 of marketing services to help them achieve their goals.

But how did it come about? Well, every year we’re inundated with charities and not-for-profit organisations coming to us and asking for support. We want to support everyone, but unfortunately, time, resources and money limits what we can do for them. So, we thought, what’s the best way to identify one organisation each year and put all of our team and resources into supporting them?

From that thought process, Reech and Reward was created. Charities come in, they talk to us, they tell us why they want support and if they got support what it would mean to their business. Last year alone, our shortlist stood at 17 separate charities that were then whittled down to 3 to present to the Reech senior management team – our team can then ask the big questions to get to the root of what the charities' ambition is. If this strikes a chord with our team and we start getting excited and invested in the mission of the charity, we know this is the right organisation to focus our efforts on.

Last year, Brightstar were the very worthy winners of Reech and Reward. Joe Lockley, Brightstar’s founder, blew the team away when he presented due to his amazing passion – we immediately wanted to get behind him, so Brightstar became the second beneficiary of Reech and Reward. Brightstar have gone on to profit from Reech’s expertise through a refreshed visual branding identity, new engaging brand messaging and positioning, website and UX audit as well as a soon-to-be-released emotionally charged video that captures Brightstar's mission and resonates with all stakeholders.

Reech and Reward is something I’m deeply proud of. I’ve always wanted to introduce an initiative of this nature into Shropshire, so seeing the huge benefits it’s heralded over the past 2 years brings my team and me such pride. If you’re a Shropshire-based charity looking to amplify your voice and extend your impact, this could be the year everything changes.
